                                                                  Registration for High School
                                               March 10-March 26, 2025

High school registration is underway at TMS!  Here is the official calendar of events, along with a few reminders to help students have an amazing experience during this exciting time:

           Important Dates to Remember

March 10 (rescheduled)  WDHS comes to TMS. This is an important assembly that begins at 8:15 am. Please make sure all 8th grade students are present and on time for school. Students who haven't received their registration forms and class planning guides will do so on this day.

March 12-March 18  Students will review their Teacher Recommendations and read the 2025-2026 High School Planning Guide. Using their Planning Guides, Teacher Recommendations, and Career Development Plans, students should circle eight classes and write in three alternates on their official registration form. Once students are satisfied that they have completed their form, they should sign it and have their parent or legal guardian review and sign. Students and parents with questions should contact School Counselors Tonya Alexander (336-242-5632) or Thomas Baker (336-853-6237). Parents may also email their questions using the links on the Students Services page of this website.

March 18 "Headed to High School Night" at WDHS. Students can see parts of the campus, meet with teachers and ask questions. This event starts promptly at 6:30 pm at the WDHS Gym.

March 21  Be aware of the final deadline to turn in completed and signed high school registration forms. Students without a signed registration form will not be allowed to participate in the registration activities on March 24-25.

March 24-25 High School Registration Event (during Encore) with WDHS Administration and Counselors. Students should plan to be at school all day. All 8th Grade students will register for classes at WDHS, including those who are applying to Early College and Yadkin Valley. If students are chosen to attend either of these schools, their records will be transferred at the end of the year and the newly selected school will take over communication with parents.

March 28 Deadline for Davidson County Early College High School applications and recommendations.

April 11 Deadline for Yadkin Valley Regional Career Academy applications and recommendations.

   Important Reminders

Make sure your current address and phone number are on file at Tyro Middle School. It is especially important that you put TWO contact numbers on your registration form so that high school staff can contact you if there are scheduling questions.

Remember that in order to take a class you are not recommended for, students and parents must complete a course waiver. Students cannot register for courses found in the Planning Guide that are not listed on their official registration form (see more information in the Planning Guide on page 3).

Students interested in taking the Yearbook class must get an application from their Homeroom Teacher and attach the application to their registration form.

Complete registration sheets neatly. It is suggested that students use a pencil. Pay attention to classes with special requirements, known as "pre-requisites" or classes that require students to sign up for two semesters (Band, Chorus). Use the instruction sheet to help you if needed (this was given to students during the Classroom Guidance lessons on registration). No student will be allowed to participate in the individual conference process without a signed pre-registration sheet.

Make sure you have completed your Career Development Plan. This plan must be signed by your parent/guardian and returned to school so that it transfers to West Davidson (or Early College, Yadkin Valley) with your cumulative school record. According to NC law, no student will be promoted unless the CDP requirement is met.

Stay informed of all registration dates. Parental involvement is important during this important time. For example, pre-registration sheets must be signed by a parent/guardian and returned to Homeroom Teachers before individual student conferences. No student will be allowed to participate in the individual conference process without a signed pre-registration sheet.
