Susan McWhorter

I enjoy teaching students to develop confidence in their ability in expressing themselves creatively.  We start with learning art vocabulary and art history, which serves as the foundation for our projects.  Projects vary, from exploring architecture styles to weaving.  I try to include a lot of different media so students can experience different effects.
The most important factor in my grading system is considering each student's effort.  I strive, especially in sketching assignments, to have them think critically and use perception in making their decisions.
Having them be prepared for class with a pencil is always important.  I hope you contact me if you have any questions or comments regarding your child's progress.
I have had experience designing advertisements for stores.  I have also enjoyed teaching students privately and running summer art camps.  I do paint and do many creative projects for myself and for our church.
I am certified in art, K-12, and Elementary, K-6.  I also have my AIG certification.
I have a BS degree in Elementary Education and Art.
