Physical Education Grading Rules

All students begin with a “100” average each week.

F

  • Fitness Friday grade is a separate grade from your participation grade. Each Friday counts 10 points for the assigned activity.
  • (-10 for not participating;-5 for participating and not being dressed)
  • The 5 fitness skills test will be tested each 9 weeks. This grade counts as 20 points each.

6th offense          (-12) and play in clothes

     1 day of ISS (for PE)

Excused for PE:

  • Present a note to the teacher at the beginning of class with the student’s name, parent signature, date, and reason stating why the student is not to participate. Points will NOT be deducted from his/her grade.
  • If a student becomes ill at school points will be deducted for not participating. Points will be replaced if a parent or doctor’s note is presented to the teacher the next day.
  • Only ONE parent note will be accepted each nine weeks for exclusion from PE due to injury or illness. A doctor’s note will be required after the one parent note has been used for extended exclusions.

 

Medical concerns:

Please complete the medical information sheet if your student has a condition that their P.E. teacher needs to be aware of.

 

Special points of interest :

  • No jewelry allowed in P.E. (This includes Fitbit watches, piercings, and necklaces)
  • Only tennis shoes are allowed on the gym floor. (This does not include rubber bottom street shoes)
  • PE. uniforms are not to be worn to school or home from school.
  • Students may provide their own lock for their gym locker but it must be removed after class.
  • If a student brings a cell phone to physical education a box will provide for them to place it in during class.
  • No book bags are allowed in class. Each student will need a gym bag to carry P.E. uniforms and tennis shoes.
