Response to Intervention

The staff at Tyro Middle School is committed to the belief that every student possesses the potential for academic growth and success. To support this vision, we have integrated a daily intervention period, known as Dragon Time, into our master schedule. This dedicated block, which runs from 8:06-8:45 AM, offers a personalized learning experience tailored to the unique needs of each student. Through a data-driven approach, Dragon Time provides targeted instruction aligned with classroom performance and standardized test results. Students engage in a variety of activities, including:
  • Small-group instruction: Teachers deliver focused lessons to reinforce skills, address knowledge gaps, and accelerate learning.
  • Intramurals: Organized recreational activities promoting teamwork, physical well-being, and socialization.
  • Exact Path: This online program offers individualized educational pathways in reading and math, allowing students to progress at their own pace.
  • Character Strong: This research-based initiative fosters a sense of belonging, well-being, and increased engagement through social-emotional learning. 
By providing a structured, yet flexible, framework, Dragon Time empowers students to take ownership of their learning, develop meaningful relationships with peers and staff, and ultimately, help progress them to reach their full potential.
